This is a moment of deep pain. Black communities are hurting all over the country. We see it and we feel it within our communities of color. We mourn the tragic, brutal, indefensible murder of George Floyd, and the senseless deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and countless other people of color. HAVEN stands against structural and systematic racism and the pain these abuses cause.
We listen and hear stories that have been inflicted onto survivors, children and the families we serve, our staff and volunteers, our equity partners and our sibling movement programs.
Racism and sexism are oppressions that thrive off of abuse of power and control. We have to explicitly confront the root causes of these issues: white supremacy, health inequities, inequality of the justice system, and other discriminatory behavior.
In our trauma-informed and resiliency work, we witness traumas — present and past — that people are able to overcome while also recognizing the scars that never go away. HAVEN remains committed to being part of the transformation that will leave no one behind, left out, at the margins or marginalized. This is an unprecedented time and we are all witness-participants and therefore have an actionable role.
We are in the middle of a pandemic and economic crisis that is exposing how inadequate and inequitable our health and socioeconomic systems are. And yet, health and safety have taken a back seat to the importance of race equality; so much so that thousands of people have taken to the streets, risking their own health, to fight for change. It is a statement of values. The collective responsibility comes with an individual responsibility. We all can be and do better. We must be honest in our listening, in our love, in our practices and actions.
The inescapable threat that structural and systemic racism presents to the health, well-being and the very lives of people of color every day cannot continue. We stand with blacklivesmatter, their families and communities. We stand with the parents who fear for all children of color every time they leave the house. HAVEN will continue to work toward this equation and bring resolve every day.
We know that peace without justice is an illusion. And yet we continue to believe that a world with peace and justice is possible and worth building. We stand for that! Please build it with us. Notify Me.Sex Dating OR The dalles 97058
